Are We A Good Fit?

Nocturnyx Lore

Before we lore drop, let’s address the real question:Are we a good fit?The brutally honest answer? Maybe. Maybe not.Finding the right support, especially in the mental wellness space, isn’t always easy. Even those who are credentialed with the highest of qualifications might not always be the best fit for everyone. It can be like someone with a fish allergy going to a sushi restaurant when ordering pizza would’ve been a better option. It doesn’t invalidate either the customer nor the restaurant, but sometimes, it just comes down to compatibility.Things like connection or even lived experience can make a huge difference, depending on your needs. And sometimes, it’s about being understood by someone who just gets it, even if you can’t explain exactly why.Which means, it can take some time to find someone who can really work with where you’re at.Which can be frustrating; I myself even remember having a bad experience with someone who was a licensed professional, which was one of the reasons it took so long for me to go back & get the support that I needed. That’s why we do a no-pressure intro chat. Just 20–30 minutes to feel it out.But if you’re the kind of person who likes to know who’s on the other side of the screen, here’s a bit of my backstory:

My Lore (The TL;DR)

Without trauma-dumping, let’s just say I grew up under tough circumstances. Lots of anxiety, personal loss, mental health struggles, etc. What helped me get through it? Stories. Anime, manga, games, books. Anything that could help me make sense of a chaotic & uncertain world. At first, I pursued biochemistry in undergrad with the goal of someday practicing medicine. But when someone in my family (who helped raise me) became sick, I had to drop out to become their caregiver.I ended up working in food retail for years, where I met some of the kindest (and honestly, sometimes worst) people. That alone was its own kind of education, as an introverted neurodivergent, it helped push me out of my comfort zone & form better relationships with others. It was during this era of my life that I fell into the world of content creation; storytelling was calling me once again. And so, in between 8 hour shifts & mental spirals, I experienced my first 15 minutes of TikTok fame. This actually happened a couple different times, & it did a number on my mental.Sucked in & spit out; I learned the hard lesson of what it’s like to chase validation online, to deal with negative comments & insecurity, to struggle with identity, & to wonder if it’s too late to start over. Problems many creators worry about, yet may not admit.Eventually, I had to take a long look into the mirror; and I realized that I wasn’t who or where I thought I would be.Wanting to make sense of my own struggles, I finally got serious & started my own mental wellness journey, learning about trauma, shame, identity, & purpose.I realized that the more I learned, the more questions I inevitably had; I grew more curious about human nature.

  • Why do we think the way we think?

  • Why do we act the way we do?

  • Why is connection so damn hard sometimes?

So I studied.. outside the classroom. I hyper-fixated on psychology, existential philosophy, relationships, cognitive behavior, & more.Once I had a better grasp of who I was & how my mind operated, I was able to sit down & really be honest in asking myself: “What do I actually want to do with my time here?”The answer:

  • I want to someday write a story that matters. One that people will never forget.

  • I want to understand people deeply; listen to their stories & help them understand themselves.

So, I decided to go back to school to finish my degree, so I can practice therapy. And, in the meantime, I’ll share what I learn with others through content & coaching.

So, What Do I Believe In?

  • That insight leads to action, but only if it’s yours, not mine.

  • That we all carry shadows within us. The goal isn’t to banish them, it’s to stop letting them drive.

  • That a good coach is like a mirror: they don’t give you answers, but they help you see what you couldn’t before.

What I’m Qualified to Help With

  • Liminal life stages (feeling stuck, starting over, feeling “late”)

  • Neurodivergent patterns (overthinking, masking, self-sabotage)

  • Burnout, limerence, existential dread (the classics)

  • Creativity blocks, shame spirals, validation-seeking loops

  • Coaching for creators, introspective folks, and people trying to make meaning out of their mess

Who Tends to Thrive With Me

  • People who overthink… then overthink their overthinking

  • The neurospicy, the self-aware-but-exhausted, the “too much” and “not enough”

  • People craving meaning more than productivity

  • Folks who don’t want a guru; they want a guide

Modern Life & Suffering

Is Coaching Right For You?

Welcome! There’s a good chance that if you’re here right now, there’s something going on in your life that you’re unhappy about.Whether it be today’s modern world setting us up for failure (the economy, social media, work, dating).. or whether it’s an internal battle happening within our own minds; life will inevitably throw challenges at us that feel almost impossible to overcome. So, here’s a wild thought. What if life was like a video game? What if we were actually able to choose our ‘difficulty level’?What would your life look like if you were playing on ‘Easy Mode’?“Well, that’s crazy, Nocturnyx, if you look outside, the world is currently falling apart; you can’t just change that!”And you’re absolutely right.However.. we’re forgetting something. The reality is that while we can’t necessarily stop life’s hurricanes, we CAN influence how resilient we are in spite of them.So yes, while we can’t lower the difficulty setting, we can learn to make our experience of life FEEL easier by increasing our own skill levels, in other words, our capacity to deal with adversity. Is it fair that we have to do this in a world where generations before us had it easier? Nope. But, is it necessary to achieve happiness in the world that we live in now? Yes.So, how can we ‘level up,’ what’s the next step?Imagine playing a video game without going through the tutorial. By ourselves, we might learn how to play over time, but the irony is, as we grow, the strategies we tend to develop in the ‘lower levels’ in order to survive (often in childhood/ young adulthood), begin to no longer serve us once we reach the ‘middle/upper levels’ (i.e. adulthood). In fact, they can start to have the opposite effect of self-sabotage; essentially disrupting our peace, causing chaos, & making life harder than it needs to be, especially when we start encountering the ‘bad guys’ (i.e. life struggles involving suffering & uncertainty). So, at least in my experience, we can either go through the hardships of life in 1 of 2 ways:

  • The hard way. We can go it alone & by ourselves. This risks never understanding ourselves & getting stuck running in circles, since as they say, “You don’t know, what you don’t know.” (I stubbornly did this for years.)

  • Or, the less hard way. We can find a guide, someone we trust who can help show us what we’re missing; help us learn to play the game of life from a new perspective.

By leveraging modern psychology, neuroscience, & philosophy, we can work to become better equipped for life’s quirky little challenges. That’s where one-on-one coaching comes in.Working with someone who’s walked the thorny path before us (such as a coach), allows us to slow down & go back to the tutorial mode for a bit, so we can explore it together. This can help us begin to see things from a different perspective & learn ‘the meta’. Learn how a Pro would play the game:Essentially, WHY we feel, think, & behave in the manner that we do.Because once we understand the controls of the game, the strategies, ‘the meta’; we’ll finally be able to better play the game of life at the ‘higher difficulty’ that our current world is demanding of us. Things just become easier; we can allow ourselves to start hoping again, to start enjoying our lives. If that sounds like what you’re looking for, feel free to check out our next section about me, Nocturnyx, your coach!

Questions & Concerns?

F.A.Q.

Q: What is coaching & how is it different from therapy?Therapy is for treating & diagnosing mental health disorders, while coaching is a collaborative process focused on growth, reflection, & self-awareness.Rather than clinical treatment, coaching offers guidance, support, and accountability.Think of coaching as a means to explore different skillsets, tools, & perspectives to help deeply understand your own mind; then use those insights to set & achieve goals in your life. All without judgement, within a safe & supportive space.ShadowKind Coaching is a service provided by ShadowKind LLC & we do NOT provide therapy. Nocturnyx is not a licensed therapist.

Q: How can coaching help me?Coaching offers a structured & supportive space to give you time to slow down. We can use this time to identify complex thoughts & feelings to figure out what’s going on inside your mind.Once we gain clarity about why our minds work in they way they do, we can use those insights to set & follow through on our goals. It’s ultimately about self-empowerment via self-awareness that sometimes only someone from an outside perspective can help bring to light. We often use this analogy: a great coach is like a hairstylist who holds up a mirror so you can see the back of your head, not because something’s wrong, but because you’ve never been able to see it clearly on your own. That shift in perspective can be the unlock which helps you finally understand something that’s always been there, just out of view.

Q: What kind of problems can coaching help with?We might explore things such as:

  • ADHD-related overwhelm or burnout

  • existential dread or melancholy

  • deeper questions involving meaning & purpose

  • limerence & relationship concerns

  • identifying emotions & developing self-awareness

Q: Can I do coaching while I’m in therapy?Absolutely. Many clients do both. Coaching can help support the work you’re already doing in therapy, especially if you’re looking for more real-time reflection & accountability.Just keep in mind: coaching is not a substitute for therapy, and it doesn’t involve diagnosis or clinical treatment.

Q: Do I need a diagnosis to work with you? Would a diagnosis prevent me working with you?Nope, you don’t need a diagnosis to work with us. Coaching is open to anyone who wants support, clarity, or growth in some area of life. And if you do have a diagnosis? That’s totally fine too. As long as you’re not looking for clinical treatment, you’re more than welcome here. Our coaching is about meeting you where you’re at, wherever that may be.

Q: What if I don’t know what I need help with? That’s totally fine! You don’t need to have it all figured out.Sometimes, part of the coaching process involves someone you trust helping you put those kind of puzzle pieces together. It’s totally normal for people to know they feel stuck or overwhelmed, yet not quite sure what to do about it or why it’s happening. That’s more than enough to start.

Q: How do coaching sessions work? Our coaching sessions are done online (usually via Discord or Google Meet) and are casual, but structured. We’ll chat about what’s going on, establish what your goals are, and figure out what we want to explore together. Then we’ll reflect, strategize, & find clarity towards getting you closer to those goals.

Q: Is this like life coaching?Yes & no. While some life coaching focuses purely on goals or productivity, ShadowKind Coaching blends reflection, mindset work, & personal meaning. We help provide you with tools & develop skills which allow us to better understand our own minds, so you can better achieve your goals. This can be especially helpful for neurodivergent or introspective folks navigating complex inner worlds.

Q: How often do we meet?We typically recommend weekly sessions to start; this can help us remain consistent in follow through on our goals. Our brains have evolved to appreciate consistency & repetition when learning anything new; coaching is no different. This means that any skills, tools, insights, and mental habits we share with you can often take time to soak in & implement into your daily life. That being said, it can depend on your needs; everyone has different circumstances too. Some clients find that once they start hitting their goals & feeling more aligned, they prefer dropping down to bi-weekly or monthly. Others really enjoy the accountability of weekly. So ultimately, it’s all up to what feels most helpful for you!
